Houston Northwest Medical Center has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in Breast Ultrasound, Stereotactic Breast Biopsy, Mammography, Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Nuclear Medicine, and Ultrasound as a result of a recent survey by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
The ACR, headquartered in Reston, VA, awards accreditations to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation of the practice. Evaluations are conducted by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. They access the qualifications of the personnel and the adequacy of facility equipment. The surveyors report their findings to the ACR’s Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practices with a comprehensive report.
“We are pleased to be recognized for our quality care in so many modalities,” says Juan Fresquez, Associate Administrator. “ACR accreditation provides a high level of confidence for patients, referring physicians and managed care organizations. This is an outstanding achievement that supports other initiatives at Houston Northwest Medical Center to improve outcomes and patient safety.”
The ACR is a national organization serving more than 32,000 diagnostic and interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists and nuclear medicine and medical physicist with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.
