| White may be the most popular car color in the United States, but an eye-catching pink RX 350 is the vehicle that will be turning heads in the greater Houston area. That’s because the RX 350 is part of a two-month campaign just launched by Houston Northwest Medical Center and Northside Lexus to raise awareness about breast cancer and support the Texas Gulf Coast Chapter of the Y-Me National Breast Cancer Organization.
“We hope that by raising awareness of breast cancer, more women will have a screening mammogram to detect cancer so treatment can begin sooner and they can live longer,” says Drew Kahn, chief executive officer at Houston Northwest Medical Center. “The Y-Me National Breast Cancer Organization does an incredible job of providing breast cancer information, resources and emotional support to women facing breast cancer. We are proud to support them during this campaign.”
The specially designed 2008 model RX 350 will be on display at various community events through May and June, including the Y-Me Mother’s Day Walk to Empower fundraiser to be held at Sam Houston Park in downtown Houston. Houston Northwest Medical Center will also donate proceeds from tee shirt sales at community events to Y-Me. The tee shirts cost $10 and were specially designed by Fran Padgett, a local artist and breast cancer survivor.
“The vivid color and striking design on this RX 350 will certainly draw people’s attention to such a worthy cause,” says Neil Potter, general manager of Northside Lexus. “We look forward to attending many events over the next two months to raise awareness about breast cancer and benefit our local Y-Me chapter.”
