The oncologists on the medical staff and health care team at Houston Northwest Medical Center provide comprehensive services for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, as well as education and support for cancer patients and their families. A multidisciplinary team of specialists in various fields such as surgery, internal medicine, infectious disease, pulmonary, gynecology, pathology, radiology and neurology are involved as needed. Specialized nurses and additional staff strive to provide each patient with quality and compassionate care within comfortable surroundings. Advanced imaging equipment and a variety of diagnostic and treatment options are available.

Cancer Support Groups
At Houston Northwest Medical Center, we believe emotional support is an integral part of cancer treatment. As a result, we sponsor two support groups – a cancer interaction support group and a breast cancer support group.

Cancer Interaction Support Group
This long-standing group, in conjunction with the American Cancer Society, provides patients, their families and friends the opportunity to learn about cancer and share related problems in a warm, caring atmosphere. The group meets on Thursday evenings from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in the Women’s Atrium Boardroom. For more information, call 713-240-3680.

Care, Share and Be Aware Support Group
This group provides a vehicle to reach survivors and their families when they are faced with many new difficult challenges. Health care professionals who facilitate the support group meetings are trained facilitators by the American Cancer Society. The group meets the second Tuesday of each month from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Women’s Atrium Boardroom. Members share learning experiences and give emotional support regarding all aspects of breast cancer. Each month various speakers from the medical and non-medical community are invited to come and discuss ways to help cope and make the cancer journey a less stressful one. Cancer Registry
The Cancer Registry at Houston Northwest Medical Center is an American College of Surgeons (ACoS) accredited program. The Cancer Registry is designed to collect, manage and analyze the data of patients who have been diagnosed and/or treated with cancer. The registry provides the medical staff with data that enable physicians to assess the results of their diagnosis and treatment efforts and provide them with information to improve the care of cancer patients.
