Surgical services at Houston Northwest Medical Center include specialties such as orthopedics, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, urology, ophthalmology, obstetrics and gynecology, plastic surgery, and many others such as weight loss/bariatric surgery. Outpatient surgery services and pediatric surgery are also available.

According to the Tenth Annual HealthGrades Hospital Quality in America Study, Houston Northwest Medical Center was recognized for quality general surgery, back and neck surgery, and gastrointestinal surgery. The study, the largest of its kind, analyzed patient outcomes at virtually all of the nation's 5,000 hospitals over the years 2004, 2005 and 2006.

Frequently Asked Questions:
What should I bring with me to the hospital?
You should not need to bring anything unless you have a special brace or hearing aids that you wear. Do bring identification and Insurance cards.

Can I wear my contact lenses and dentures?
Depending on the type of procedure and anesthesia you will be having, you may be able to keep your contacts or dentures in. Please bring a case in which to store them in case they cannot be worn.

Should I eat or drink anything before procedure?
You should not have anything to eat or drink after midnight the night before your procedure unless instructed differently by the anesthesiologist or your physician.

What does my family do while I am having my procedure?
Your family will stay with you until you are taken to the operating room or minor procedure room. At that time they will be shown the appropriate waiting room so they can be easily found when the doctor has completed the procedure.
