Learning about incontinence can give you the courage and understanding needed to bring the subject up with your health care provider.

Seek Help for a Leaky Bladder
Millions of women let urinary incontinence limit their lives. Up to 25 million Americans have leaky bladders, and at least four out of five are women, according to the National Association for Continence (NAFC). Learn more . . .

Overcoming Incontinence
According to the National Association For Continence (NAFC), about 80 percent of people with urinary incontinence can be cured or their condition can be improved. Treatment depends on what is causing the problem and what type of incontinence you have. Kegel exercises and bladder training help some types of incontinence, while medicine and surgery are other options.

About Urological Disorders
Urological disorders can seriously impact the quality of life. Too many people put off seeking diagnosis and treatment, and continue to live with discomfort. Common urological disorders, such as incontinence and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BHP), are treatable.

Many factors may lead to the development of incontinence. Women who have had one or more children, or who are going through menopause, may experience incontinence. Men who have had prostate surgery may also be susceptible.

BHP occurs when an enlarged prostate gland compresses the urethra and blocks the normal passage of urine. Although not a life-threatening disease, if left untreated BPH may lead to other more serious conditions.
