Houston Northwest Medical Center is pleased to announce that Esther Valdez, RN, is among an elite group of healthcare professionals in Houston recognized as a Healthcare Hero at the Houston Business Journal's first HealthCare Heroes awards luncheon. There were twelve healthcare hero categories and Esther won the Healthcare Hero Nurse Award.

“I was profoundly honored to be chosen for the Houston Business Journal's HealthCare Hero Nurse Award,” elates Esther Valdez, RN, Breast Center MammoCare Specialist at Houston Northwest Medical Center. “I was emotionally moved to be in a room filled with so many individuals that shared my passion. The award is a reflection of all the hard work and commitment from not only me, but all the team at The Breast Center at Houston Northwest Medical Center.”

“Esther represents the best of who we are at Houston Northwest Medical Center and what we do as health care providers in the communities we serve,” said Tosha Morton, Breast Center manager at Houston Northwest Medical Center. “The passion and quality of care provided by dedicated professionals like Esther serve as an inspiration to us all.”

For 35 years, Esther has been providing exceptional care to her patients. The last ten years she’s been working with patients and survivors at Houston Northwest’s Breast Center.  She has become known for always providing extraordinary care to help patients and their families through difficult times.  Esther has solidified and increased membership in the breast cancer survivors support group at Houston Northwest, “Care, Share and Be Aware.” She has also reached out to the Hispanic community in Houston to teach them about the importance of getting mammograms and performing monthly self-exams.
