Houston Northwest Medical Center has been designated an Aetna Institute of Quality Bariatric Surgery Facility for treating individuals living with morbid, or extreme, obesity.
Aetna makes information about the quality and cost of health care services available to its members to help them make informed decisions about their health care needs. In line with this goal, Aetna recognizes hospitals and facilities in its network that offer specialized clinical services for certain health conditions. Facilities are selected for consistently delivering evidence-based, safe care.
“Patients know that when they come to Houston Northwest Medical Center for bariatric surgery they will benefit from the clinical excellence and quality care we provide,” says Heather Hudkins, RN, Well Beginnings bariatric nurse coordinator. “Assuring the highest possible standards for surgical expertise and patient care is important to improving quality throughout the industry and building a healthier community.”
Well Beginnings offers several bariatric surgery options to promote long-term weight management, including Roux-en-Y, LAP-BAND® Adjustable Gastric Banding System and sleeve gastrectomy. Following surgery, patients are cared for in one of the dedicated bariatric post-surgical suites that are designed specifically to meet patient needs and are customized with features designed to help make the hospital stay more comfortable. Patients work closely with a bariatric coordinator during their weight loss journey. The hospital accepts many insurance plans that cover bariatric surgery.
