On November 18, 2011 Houston Northwest Medical Center hosted a groundbreaking ceremony to launch its Mall Expansion Project, where the portion of the campus known as the Medical Malls, located on the south end of the hospital, will undergo a major renovation and expansion. After many years of the hospital’s front entrance facing Roberson Drive, the expansion project will also reorient the front entrance of the hospital to face FM 1960 (Cypress Creek Parkway).   In addition to creating a new front entrance of the hospital, the renovated facilities will include expanded patient registration, patient care areas, family waiting areas, valet reception, and additional retail sites and classrooms being built.  

MEDesign Architectural Group is the architect on the project, and Robins & Morton has been selected as the builder. Construction on the $6.4 million project will begin by the end of November and continue for approximately 12 months. During the construction process, some hospital departments will be moved to temporary locations within the campus, and according to Juan Fresquez, chief operating officer, Houston Northwest Medical Center, “our patients’ need for comfort during their hospital stay will always come first, and construction will be done in a manner that minimizes any inconvenience to our customers.”
