Every day, more people join the ranks of cancer survivors because of the extraordinary strides being made in cancer treatment and research.

The cancer program at Houston Northwest Medical Center comprises a multidisciplinary team of oncologists, radiation oncologists, diagnostic radiologists, surgeons, pathologists and nursing staff who work together to ensure that our patients receive quality cancer care.

Our multidisciplinary team is involved with patient diagnosis and treatment, and specialized nurses and staff strive to provide each patient with quality and compassionate care within comfortable surroundings. Chemo-certified nurses administer chemotherapy and other IV therapies as ordered by physicians. And a full-time case manager is dedicated to assisting cancer patients on this unit.

Comprehensive Services Available:

  • IV infusion therapy
  • Antibiotic therapy
  • Bone marrow biopsy
  • Infusion of blood/ blood products

Your Comfort In Mind
The Infusion Therapy Department at Houston Northwest Medical Center features comfortable recliners and plasma screen televisions. We encourage our patients to interact with one another and form lasting supportive relationships. Complimentary meals are provided for our patients during their outpatient treatments. Free wireless Internet access is available throughout the facility for our patients and their families.

The 27-bed unit includes a dedicated, private cancer information center designed for one-on-one counseling and patient education.

Prevention Through Screenings
Screening for and early detection of cancer is a major focus for Houston Northwest Medical Center.

Throughout the year we offer preventative screenings and educational events that focus on skin cancer, prostate cancer and breast cancer.

Support When You Need It Most
Houston Northwest Medical Center offers several support groups, educational materials and programs available for patients and family members.

‘Look Good… Feel Better’ Program
Houston Northwest Medical Center is proud to be a ‘Look Good… Feel Better’ program participant. This program provides information to women undergoing cancer treatment to help them look and feel more comfortable with changes in their appearance.

Join us for this complimentary program offered by licensed cosmetologists and health care professionals in a group setting. Space is limited and all participants must register in order to receive a free cosmetic kit*.

The Cancer Registry Program at Houston Northwest Medical Center
A Cancer Registry is an information system designed for the collection, management, and analysis of data on persons with the diagnosis of a malignant or neoplastic disease (cancer). The Cancer Registry at Houston Northwest Medical Center maintains data on all patients diagnosed and/or treated for cancer at the facility. Patient confidentiality is strictly enforced.  Aggregate data is analyzed and published without use any patient identifiers. Health care facilities report cancer cases to the central or state Cancer Registry as required by law.
