Postpartum Suites Designed with Comfort in Mind
The postpartum suites are decorated to create spa-like accommodations for new mothers recovering from childbirth. The suites were designed with special touches like the complimentary “on-demand” entertainment package. The free system includes an expanded channel line-up and many “on-demand” features on your bedside plasma screen television, such as premium movies, information on hospital services and patient education. Patients also have limited Internet access for checking e-mail, browsing the Internet, checking weather and news, and using search engines.
Each room has soothing and modern décor, windows with quaint window seats, bathrooms decorated with inlaid stone trim, and all provide in-room sleeping accommodations for a family member. These are just a few of the many inviting amenities that make your stay at Houston Northwest Medical Center more pleasant.
Family and friends are invited to relax, browse the Internet or watch a plasma screen television in the concierge room conveniently located near the postpartum suites.
Neonatal Intensive Care
Giving birth to a sick or premature baby can be quite unexpected for any parent. The neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) provides high-risk care for babies should the need arise. The NICU combines advanced technology and trained health care professionals who provide tailored care for specific needs. Most babies admitted to the NICU are premature (born before 37 weeks of gestation), have a low birth weight, experienced difficulties during delivery or show signs of a problem shortly after birth. The length of time babies spend in the NICU depends on the severity of their conditions.
Ovulation Date Calculator
A woman is fertile (able to become pregnant) only during a certain part of her monthly cycle—just before and during ovulation. By learning when you ovulate, you can predict when you’re likely to be fertile.
Childbirth Education Classes
The months and days before delivery are filled with excitement as you prepare for the big event. Houston Northwest Medical Center understands the importance of preparing for childbirth, so we offer expectant parents a variety of educational classes to help families prepare for the arrival of their new baby.
