Learn About Visitor Guidelines

Visiting a loved one during their stay at the hospital is important for both you and your family or friend. That’s why Houston Northwest has a visitor policy that encourages you to show your support, but also respects the needs of those staying at the hospital.Visitation Policy

The hospital will not limit visitors based on age, race, ethnicity, language, physical or mental disability, socioeconomic status, sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity or expression. Patients have the right to receive visitors that they designate, including (but not limited to) a spouse, a domestic partner, another family member or a friend. Patients have the right to withdraw or deny such consent at any time.

In the interest of quality patient care and patient privacy, visitors may not be permitted in the treatment area during patient examination or critical treatment. They will be directed to wait in the unit’s lobby until examination and treatment has reached a point that allows them to return, unless the acting doctor specifically requests visitation for you at that time.

Visitation may be limited to staff in surgical and post-surgical areas, including labor and delivery, due to infection control parameters. While visitation in the nursery and neonatal intensive care unit is limited to two individuals banded for security reasons, visitation in the patient rooms is open visitation. Visitation for minors in the pediatric unit is limited to siblings due to infection control issues.

Visiting Hours

Family and friends are welcome in most areas of the hospital during daily visiting hours between 10 a.m. and 8:30 p.m.. Supervised, well-behaved children may visit as well.

Some of our units, such as intensive care, have special visiting hours because of the critical nature of the care being given. Please call (281) 440-1000 with questions about specific unit visiting policies.

After-Hours Visitors

After 8:30 p.m., visitors are required to obtain a pass from Security.
